Bedroom update...

Now that I am almost finished with our living room, I'm moving on to the bedroom. My inspiration, of course, is Phoebe Howard. Her bedrooms are so classic, tranquil and luxurious.

Here is one of the photos that really inspired me. It is from the guest bedroom in her Atlanta apartment. In an interview with House Beautiful, Phoebe Howard said that the wall color was Blue Hubbard by Sherwin Williams (it was from Martha Stewart's line and now discontinued, but apparently Sherwin Williams can still mix it). She said that it is a grayish blue, with just a touch of green in it. (I've also heard good things about Sherwin Williams Sea Salt - it's supposed to look like sea glass according to Layla at The Lettered Cottage.)

I think the Blue Hubbard color will match perfectly with my new bedding. When Pottery Barn had a recent sale, I bought a new duvet cover and shams from their Grand Embroidered collection in Porcelain Blue. They are really pretty and soft. The color of the blue detailing is even softer in person. I also bought the matching Hanna Quilt in Porcelain Blue to create a similar look to the image below:I love this image too. The starburst mirror is just gorgeous. I have a smaller one hanging above the headboard in my guest bedroom. I found it in a thrift store on the Cape for $20. I may try to find another one for the master bedroom, although I doubt I'll be that lucky again with the price!

Although, for a different look, the painting below is just gorgeous. Here are (a lot) more images from Phoebe Howard that I'm using as an inspiration as I think about the other elements in the room.

All images from Phoebe Howard

How wonderful are these rooms? Phoebe Howard really has a way with bedrooms. Although, to be fair, the rest of her homes are absolutely stunning too.

I may also try making a headboard based on the Colette Bed from Crate and Barrel. I made the headboard in my guest bedroom following the instructions by Young House Love, found here, and I'm very happy with the results. We will likely be moving in a year or two, and at that point I want to upgrade to a King size bed, so there is no reason to spend a lot of money on a headboard now.
So, what do you think?

well that pheobe sure has bedrooms down pat! They are all gorgeous, just divine, and as most of my home has that kinda blue in it, I'm a big fan of these particular pics!

Very pretty! I'm loving these Phoebe Howard bedrooms. I also have a Sherwin Williams' Martha Stewart color in my master bedroom. Mine is called "Milk Pail" and I just love it. It is also in that gray green blue color way. I just love it and it makes our bedroom so relaxing and stress-free.

These are SUCH gorgeous images! You can't go wrong with this as inspiration! I love the lines of the colette bed. I have seen so much of the nailhead - I think it could be so pretty with just subtly contrasting piping in its place. I'm anxious to see what you do! Marija

These are gorgeous inspiration photos! It will be a very relaxing room. I'm so jealous that you found a sunburst mirror at such a great price!

I love the soft blue on the walls in some of the rooms. The touch of gray in the blue takes it to a really soothing level without making it feel like a nursery.

I love the use of the multiple mirrors over the bed. With stores like Home Goods offering so many affordable choices, you could start with one mirror and add to it as you found some bargains.

Hi. Love Phoebe Howard so much. This was great. I left a comment right under your name on Holding Court, (I adore her site, since she is an ex attorney, I gravitated towards it...) Couldn't help but notice your blog's name, so came to check it out. I too used to practice law for years in NYC (Real Estate Law). So glad I stopped by your lovely site.

Love, love Phoebe Howard, she is my design idle. I think I like everything she does. I reference her a lot on my blog. My master is very much like some of these inspiration pictures. I have the Hotel bedding in a sand colored stitching. It is probably 12 yrs old and I still love it. Timeless for sure. I can't wait to see what you do with your bedroom, I will be back for sure, great blog. Kathysue
